视觉艺术

The 视觉艺术 Department at Palmer Trinity School is committed to offering a rich foundation in two- and three-dimensional art in a true studio setting.
As practicing artists, our faculty provides hands-on knowledge of contemporary aesthetic practices, a strong background in art history and an active link to the art community in Miami. In the studio we aim to provide a forum for students to visually explore interdisciplinary ideas while mastering materials and techniques presented. We offer a student-oriented curriculum that features diverse activities and addresses individual needs and aspirations.

Message From The 视觉艺术 Department Chair

Our privilege as art educators is to prepare our students for the world of tomorrow, a world that will need creative minds. We hope that those who take our classes will be one step closer to becoming the innovators of the next generation, helping to come up with new solutions to society’s old (and new) problems.

It is my pleasure to help guide students through the world of self‐expression and my privilege as the department chair to create a visual arts program so strong and enriching that it will be of benefit of the entire school community and a draw to potential students at PTS!

  • Art Teachers Display Work at Exhibition

    The 视觉艺术 teachers recently exhibited their artwork in partnership with ArtSouth in the Village of Palmetto Bay at the lovely Perrine Community House. They are grateful to all who joined them that evening. It was a fabulous night!

    生于古巴艺术家 亚历山大·波尔图 holds a bachelor’s degree in art from Santiago de Cuba University. 自
    immigrating to the USA in 2004, he is actively engaged with organizations like the Portrait Society of America and FACE, collaborating with 编辑Portavoz to illustrate books. Porto is deeply committed to capturing the essence of humanity in his artwork, transcending boundaries of age, 性别, and social standing. His portraits, described as 情感上的现实主义, not only depict individuals but also serve as powerful reflections of societies, incorporating the study of psychology to delve into the root of emotions.

    芭芭拉·里维拉, a Puerto Rican-born painter, specializes in portraiture. She moved to Miami in 1987, earned her BFA in painting and graphic design from the University of Miami, and later obtained her MFA from Florida
    International University, focusing on painting. Rivera's small-scale paintings offer fresh perspectives on female identity and its social connections, drawing inspiration from the eighteenth-century tradition of decorative, 花哨的图片. This tradition persisted into the early Victorian era, notably in the more refined form of illustrations featuring charming young women.

    桑迪。伍德 is a native Floridian who received a BFA in Painting from the University of Florida and a master’s in
    art education from Florida International University. She enjoys both portraiture and landscape painting and
    recently found a fun way to combine the two with her series of cow portraits. 宽松的, washy layers of paint create a dreamlike environment for the more realistically rendered cows, who serve as symbols of the peace and calm that is still possible once one escapes the more densely populated areas of Florida.
